Build Variable Documentation

The documentation for Sencha Cmd is lacking in many ways, but trying to find out what a build variable does is a black art. For example, these lines from the build environment files:

build.include.all.css=true
build.optimize=${build.optimize.enable}
enable.resource.compression=true

Is there a straightforward way of tracing where these variables are used and then what they do?
