Toggle field and device connectivity

Cordova: 3.6.3

Problem ...

I have a toggle-field that when enabled (slide right & green) connects to the server and performs a function. I've got this working nicely. However, I'd like to slide the toggle back to disabled (slide gray & left) if the connection if not available and the user tries to enable the toggle. Is there away of doing this without causing recursion? Trying to set a flag in the change event becomes messy and I've been unsuccessful in getting the cordova network information plugin working 100% (org.apache.cordova.network-information ) getting error Channel not fired: onCordovaConnectionReady

Is there a way of doing this?
