Propagating an event upwards from a ViewController

Hi.

I'm fairly new to extjs. I have a view with a veiwcontroller handling all of its events. Under one set of circumstances though, I need to make a change up at the viewport level. I'm having trouble getting my viewcontroller to either fire an event upward for a higher viewcontroller to handle, or to fire an event for a regular controller to handle. I see that you can enable bubbling for a specific event before calling fireEvent to allow it to move upward, but I'm either not understanding how to do that, or it isn't working with how I have laid things out.

With viewcontrollers being so new, I can't find any examples of this being done. Does anyone have any insight on how to accomplish this?
