How can I make Breadcrumb respect the Href config property?

I'm trying to use a breadcrumb toolbar to show the user where they are in an object hierarchy.

I've assigned the appropriate href property to each node in the TreeStore so the user can jump back to the parent, etc. object.

But in the UI, when the user clicks a node in the breadcrumb toolbar, it just collapses the trail to that point, there appears to be no way to actually visit the assigned link.

How can I make each node in the path a link, using the href, and disable the normal functionality of collapsing and expanding the tree?

(I start the tree with the innermost node selected, and each node only has one child, so I don't really need the tree to have any drop-down menus or whatnot.)
