grid celleditor plugin does not handle accents (UTF?) Basic question

The cell editor plugin displays html markup instead of a german umelat.

Can somebody point me to the topic I need to be searching for?

Or give me the three sentence overview?

Do I need a WSYIWYG editor, a TinyMCE plugin, or am I looking for a config property, or ...?
